How to Volunteer
Become a Volunteer!
Volunteer Requirements - Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older and be able to commit 18 months to the program.
Application Process - The screening process includes completion of an application form with a writing sample. A criminal record check is also conducted on all applicants, and three letters of recommendation are required.

Interview - Volunteers that have completed the application in full, and meet the volunteer requirements will be contacted to schedule a screening interview. Sucessful candidates will then be required to complete the CASA Training.

Boston CASA Training Program
Training Sessions- Once a volunteer has successfully completed the application process they are required to participate in an intense and comprehensive training program. The training program is held two times per year (Spring and Fall). The training is coordinated and facilitated by program staff.
Observation- As part of the training all volunteers are required to observe a day of court. The observation is geared toward familiarizing volunteers with the court process.
Additional Training- When a volunteer is first assigned to a case they meet with their supervisor and are shown in detail the steps to an investigation. The dynamics of their particular case are discussed and explored.
On-Going Training- Specialists working in the field of children’s issues are called upon to address specific areas.

Other Volunteer Opportunities
Friends of CASA, Inc. also provides volunteer opportunities for potential volunteers who, for whatever reasons, cannot be child advocates right now. Volunteers are needed for a variety of activities including fundraising, coordinating and assisting at CASA events and serving on the Board.
