The Forgotten Children event featured life size cutouts of children that bear actual messages from foster children. This dramatic display of children in the Boston Common with the State House as the backdrop highlighted the need for public awareness and support for thousands of children currently in the foster care system placed outside their home due to abuse or neglect. Each cutout child represented 100 children.
In the words of one youth: “If you want the foster care system to get better, if you have compassion in your heart, don’t stop doing whatever you can to make it better—even if it’s just by providing an ear. Be someone we can talk to. You are the one that can create the change.” (From a recent national studycommissioned by the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association.)
